I am starting to plan the work on the 302 for my 73,    I am looking for pics of other guys who have 302's in there car.       one think I am really interested in is what the factory air cleaner set up looks like.     I have to repaint mine and redo all the stickers and  everything.    thanks for the help guys.

I originally wanted to do a Ford V-10, maybe in the future.
Here is my 302...

"cute" is the word that comes to mind when seeing a 302 in a Torino.

It is dwarfed by the massive carcass of the Torino!

I have seen this pic before but on second glance your bay is exceptionally clean. Very well done. Did you relocate your battery? What rad and size are you running? I assume the holdown brackets are custom? The original holes in the rad support seam to be plugged with something, what did you use?

Some guy with a '95 or so Grand Marquis stuffed a Triton V10 in there. He had to cut a lot of stuff up. I think our cars have more room. Easy to get those V10's out of junkyard trucks and vans, mostly vans. No one thinks the van engine is fun to remove, and they're right! Look for 1997+ E250 and E350 vans and keep an eye out for the V10 stickers. Most of the time the engine is fine, it's the transmission that's out. And they do go out. You can build a 4R100W to handle the power properly these days, if you have the money. And there isn't too much aftermarket support for the V10 whereas the 4.6 and 5.4 modular V-8's have plenty.

here is what I am working with,   I know the 302 is small wish I had a 351  but the 4dr parts car gave me a 302 so thats what I have to work with for now,  maybe once this is built up nice I can trade for a 351 or find a nice big block to build up.  but for now the 302 will have to do.

Thanks for the compliments guys! As for the battery yes it is in the trunk and was relocated when a former owner made the car into a drag/street car. I am unsure of what size the radiator is without measuring but it could be a bit wider to fill the side gaps. It is a Griffin aluminum that I got from a Mustang guy. He was gonna put it in his fox bodied stang but my friend convinced him it wouldnt fit so I got it for $125!! The bottom of it just sits perfectly in the channel with foam/rubber under it and the upper mounts I fabbed up myself with a strip of aluminum from Ace Hardware. Lol! They are not perfect but functional. The little plugs across the core support are actually to hold on the weatherstrip that is missing. However I just picked a brand new one up from my dash pad honey hole for free so I will be putting it on by summer.

Sorry Kversch if this is considered a Hijack. Ouch

Yep Ilyes I am running a 4.56 but with my current 29" tall tire it is more like having a 3.73 or so. I only rev around 2800rpm at 60 but when i had 4.11's in my Ranchero with a 14" tire I was running about 3200-3300rpm at 60. I am replacing the tires though so I will have more gear once I swap to either a drag radial or just radial around 27" or smaller.

Kversch - I just looked at your link in your siggy and I was wondering do you still have the kick a$$ lightning rods?? Are you gonna run them?

right now they are still in dad's 72 formal,  he doesnt really like them much,  I think they are pretty cool.  at very least a cool conversation starter at car shows.   As of right now I want to put them in my 73 but still not positive yet.

the crazy dream build in my mind, is to have a blown 302 under the hood of the 73 GTS.

Ok, I admit, although wimpy in cubes, the 302 is a totally rockin' ford powerhouse, and if you get it for cheep or free it leaves more for the performance goodies that make motor and drive line work a real party Thumbs UpBig smile. I know most these 302s on here could probably shred me with my mostly stock 460Embarrassed. I like that big block torque though.  Pics look great.. i wish I had more to contribute to this.

Bent every last push rod and got REALLY close to smashing the windshield, but if you're OK with that then go for it, just gotta unbolt all the head bolts and anchor the leveler to the 4 corners of the intake, then just go real slow and be patient so you don't take out the windshield.
