So I am replacing the fuel filter for the pickup. It's the type that has the fuel pump + filter canister. There is a thick O-ring (seal is probably a better term).
What, if anything, should I use with the seal? Vaseline, Ultra Blue, nothing? I have some Fuel Lube, a compound developed by Rolls Royce in the 1970's for jet engine fuel systems. It works great for metal-to-metal fuel system sealing, but I notice when I use it with rubber or other polymer seals it doesn't work so well. The question really is more general in nature, however. The same question applies to sealing all rubber seals in fuel system components / connections. |

you don't want RTV. vaseline or motor oil will work, just to lube the seal so it snugs up nice & smooth

X2 A grease usually works best on an O ring/rubber seal.
