while chancing bat from one ltd2 to the other I noticed an electric eye mounted in front of the rediator. it is connected to the lights it apears. Neither cars headlights auto go to low beam with approching cars what is it?

that is not an electronic eye I believe it has to do something with the A/C it is mounted to the center support am I correct?or am I thinking of something different then what you are refering to

Ambient temperature sensor for the A/C system. It controls the lower temperature set point for when the A/C compressor is allowed to engage.

Thanks Scott,I knew it was for the A/C cause Scott Witham the guy who bought my 73 frame told me about it but couldn't remember the technical name.I saved all the wiring harness so I can have anything that is a/c related for the swap into mmy 72

no problem I just couldn't remember the technical name or the exact purpose but knew it was to the A/C and Scott helped out with it's actual function.
there is always bound to be one member here with the answer to any question about these cars |

I can remember from my 79 Cadillac Deville that the indicators used in the late 70's were for the purpose of high beam dimming, not for headlight activation. And typically they were mounted on the dash board, perhaps center close the the apex of the dash pad and the windshield. Cadillac had it, Ford likely did as well but not probably on a mid-size. I'd expect Lincoln and maybe Thunderbird cars to have had such an option.

ya as a mec helper back in 67 we were always adjusting those [eyes] because they would not dim fast enough for uncomming cars.
