After reading the archives, I still need some info. I want to replace my base cluster with the upgrade package, complete with tach and oil pressure guage. A few months ago, I see there was a post with the strait 1972 to 72 swap. It mentioned the extra plugs and harness. I found a guage cluster in a 1972 Montego fastback in a parts yard, but the guy wants too much money for it. I want to do a budget project on my 1973 Montego. I have a 1974 Gran Torino Elite with the full guage set. Would somebody be able to tell me what the differences are to make the later set work? Is it doable? Is there a good source for both 1973 and 1974 wiring diagrams? I might even try to talk to the yard ownwer about a swap and a little cash. He was not very easy to talk to though. Thanks in advance. Any and all help is appreciated. -Les in MI. |

Do the two cars have the same engine? I swapped a full gauge cluster in my 76 Gran Torino about 10 years ago but I had to pull the wiring harness from the alternator back to the firewall plug from another car that had the full gauge cluster and the same engine as mine. I pulled the harness from a 75 Cougar. Gene |

Where the main harness plugs in the 74 and later are completely different larger plug and wired differently as well.

I have 2 extra 72 Torino Rallye Instrument Groups (large tach, clock, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel, and ammeter) left over from cars that I parted out over the years, make me an offer.

I've seen something like that crawling along the bottom of my friend swimming pool once. |
