My 302 has a rebuilt 2100 2 barrel. In the past, on occasion this thing would choke down and flood out.  Once the weather got colder, it wouldn't start.  A quick look showed that the choke was in full closure.  This is the choke off on the old carb which never had a problem.  So either I screwed it up when I changed out carbs or something happened.

My question is, how do I get back to square one and trouble shoot this? Or is there something obvious that I need to check?

Thanks,

Randy

Yes, the heat tube and the snorkel from the exhaust manifold are hooked up.  I don't think the problem is there because it won't even start unles I prop the choke plate open with a screw driver. I must be adjusting  the wrong thing because nothing so far has helped.

All of the linkage appears to be there because my first thought was that something had fallen off.

I'll keep diggin'

Thanks

Randy

you  have to loosen the3 screws on the side of the choke and rotate the black housing.that is how you adjust the choke. The choke should open and close as you rotate the round black housing in either direction.you will have to play with it to get it set to where you need

The coil may be broken inside.  I moved it both ways....but the choke didn't move at all.

Oh well.

If you remove the black housing completely you'll see a notch in the end of the spring that fits over a tab on the linkage. This has to be in place for the choke to work. It sounds like it's not connected.
