I rebuilt mine with fresh clutches (alto red), trans-go shift kit, relined wide band, F lever, and R servo and it's been fine behind 600+ for a while.. Helps to find one with the extra clutches, like a lincoln or truck.. you can get a thinner pressure plate for teh drums to get an extra set in there..

Totally stock rebuild?  Mine was toast with a 400+hp 460 after 6 years or so.

I think they put a C6 behind every performance engine back then when the engines had more than 300hp, so I quess stock C6 handles 300 to 400hp well.
A good shift kit would be my first recommendation if your doesn´t have one already.
Then better clutch kit etc.
I rebuilt mine with Alto red clutches, billet servo and lever, kevlar band, trans-go shift kit, and some additional quality parts. Naturally those parts weren´t exactly cheap...Tongue
Bought parts from PATC transmission http://www.transmissioncenter.net/c4_c6.htm
Broader performance http://www.broaderperformance.com/en/33-ford-c6-
and through ebay.
