Well Saturday was a total bust... didn't get to work on the Tomato due
to my brother's retirement party, but thankfully Friday was a holiday
(Good Friday) and I did get to work on her for a bit... rear end is
ready for reassembly! I ground the casting flash from the upper rear control arms... sandblasted.... and painted, then laid everything out to begin mounting the components back onto the axle housing.... FINALLY, REASSEMBLY OF SOMETHING!!!?????

ground off the casting flash--- that's something that i would do! (actually that's not cast, it's forged: see how wide that is, if it was cast it would be a small sharp line FYI)

Well last weekend was non productive due to a family get together, but I
did get my rear lower control arms back from the F3 crew prior to
leaving.... I was able to sneak over to the dealership and work on them a bit Wednesday afternoon and Saturday. I got one dressed down but ran out of 2" Roloc discs (another box on their way) before I could get the second one finished... I was also able to get my front upper control arms broken down so I could get them and a few other pieces blasted this weekend.... so I can HOPEFULLY get all them painted next weekend. **CLICK ON PICS TO ENLARGE AND CLICK AGAIN TO SUPERSIZE** Was going to hang the rear sway bar brackets but remembered that I was going to re-engineer the hanger bracket mount for easier assembly (factory method a real PITA), so that got put on hold as well. Pulled apart the shifter floor seal and got the rubber and steel surround cleaned, prepped and ready for reassembly.... and also cleaned up some rubber frame plugs as well as shooting new rubber on the bump stops, engine & tranny mounts as well as the steering shaft boot. I hope to get a replacement lens for the blast cabinet this week to get that back on line because there are still more bits and pieces to blast as well as my new back up plates for the sway bar hangers. LOL, since no one has correctly identified my mistake (the shifter seal is put together right!) I guess I'll just correct it and keep it to myself! |

You got your backer plates all installed and brake lines on. The backers are gonna come off to put the axleshafts and retainers in, However, I'm thinking this is for mockup to get the lines set prior to assembly...

Thought retainers were supposed to be behind brake backers.
Galloping senility I guess..
