Hi all:
I know where there's a great set of 75 Linc Mark V split bench power leather seats. Anybody know if they fit in a 77 LTD II? Or any recommendations for a front seat change out? My stock vinyl bench is too low and set too close to the steering wheel, even pushed all the way back. I've heard people discuss Explorer seats? (They would seem too high???) Any recommendations would be helpful BEFORE I take a tape measure and drive an hour to look at these Linc seats. Thanks in advance, |

Mark V *should* fit. Not sure. Other than that, direct bolt in is a 72-79 bucket set or 60/40 set. BTW, how tall are you? I'm 6'2" and manage to do just fine, lol.

Well, I'm 5'9 + a little, and what my mom used to call "stout" when I was a kid. But over the years I've gotten used to a very far-from-the-wheel positiopn. Got it from my Crown Vic where I could put the seat way back so my arms were almost all the way extended, then adjust the pedals to where they were comfortable. In my Explorer I ride up much closer, but then the seats are MUCH more upright (chair-like) and it has tilt wheel to adjust that.
Maybe if the 77 had power seats and tilt I'd find a more comfortable spot. I remember the same issue with my 78 TBird until I switched that bench seat out for a set of buckets. The Linc seats look really great (at least on Craigslist). I guess they will be worth the ride (with measuring tape) to go check 'em out. Would really like to find split bench (60-40?) out of one of "our" cars 77-79 LTD II, Coug, or TBird, in white, with matching back seat. Only white thing on my blue car is the rear 1/2 vinyl roof. I think white seats would really "pull" the car together. Thoughts?

A 1975 Lincoln would be a Mark IV, not a Mark V. Thunderbird/LTD sized, not Torino/LTDII size. They might actually fit but I would think they would be too wide.
My goal is to get 88-91 Grand Marquis leather seats in blue for my car. Just have to find them in not too ragged shape. Lots of 80s-90s Grand Marquis and Town Cars have white seats and are split bench like you want but I think they are 50/50 not 60/40. |

Well, this may be a chop idea, but you could always drill new mount holes a couple of inches back, eh? I'm having the same issue with my bench in the 75. I hate it, and it will come out when I get my race seats.

Ah, my bad, you're right, a 75 Linc would be a MkIV, not V. Widening the bolt holes on my bench seat is definitely an option, as is a few washers under the front mount to raise/tilt it back just a bit.
I think the MkIV seats would be too wide as well. Any late-model suggestions? Also a guy has a Ford sport steering wheel on eBay. Says it fits early 80's Mustang. Would the splines etc match up with the column on my 77? The Sport wheels seem to mount flusher with the column end and might work well (and be cool looking too!) Thanks again guys!
