I think they called that Panel Painting back then. A lot of guys used lace to make some designs. And drugs of a psychedelic persuasion.

Yep panel painting... Can't tell if they did lace behind it or whatnot, as the picture quality sucks.
Still a nice bit of history.

Love lowriders. Wonder if that green 72 could hop or three wheel.

One of my old school friends was cleaning his basement and found a picture of my Mom's old '72 Squire he made when we were in 9th grade (I had been driving since I was 14). I must've had my foot matted on it, judging by the nose-up posture. Brought back a lot of memories and makes me wish I had not agreed to sell my Squire to a friend of mine.
Funny that both pictures have Ford trucks in them. The one in the old picture was new and belonged to a neighbor named Homer. |

Thanks, Vince. Our old wagon had a 400. When we were in grade school, our class would take field trips and the mom's would drive. 3 mothers in particular were favorites to ride with, as they would race. All wagons ('72 Vista Cruiser, our '72 Squire, and a '72 Impala wagon). Mom was never faint of heart when it came to running a car. I guess we had that car 10 years or so, trouble free. Somewhere, I have a picture of it in our driveway alongside my '76 Torino and Dad's new Grand Prix. That wagon kindled my love affair with these. Oddly, even though she had faster, more valuable vehicles, this was her favorite. I still remember the day we got it in 1974 - we had a '70 Torino Squire with a 351 4V and hideaways (dark green) and Dad asked her to take it down to Bob Trimbles (company we always got cars from, friend of the family) to get the rear window and headlights looked at. Bob gets in the car, drives it upstairs (all the cars were kept upstairs unless they were in the showroom), and about 5 minutes later drives the '72 down. He always gave us a car to drive when we needed work on ours, but Mom said it was too nice a car for him to loan us while ours was being repaired. Bob hands her the keys and said, "Here 'ya go, it's yours". We were absolutely shocked and thought it was the most beautiful car we'd ever seen and Dad never let on about the surprise. I somehow remember that day like it was last week, and guess it had to do with the love we had for it. Learned to drive in it, raced it, "borrowed" it, had my first date in it, just so many memories.

From Steve L. on our Facebook page - it's a 1974 GTS with a Cougar style C pillar window in it, not the regular one. He's been looking to find this car again. Buckets and console.
