Looking for the Paint codes with sample colors for all the years of our cars.
Specifically for the 1972 for me but would be nice to post links or even actual pictures of the sheets.

Ebay might have old paint mixing books that bodyshops would use.

Specifically I am looking for the color that is on this 72 posted on FB...
Daniel answered that it was 6F Gold Glow.
The other cars I saw with Gold Glow 6F did not look like this.

That color is real close to the aftermarket color someone put on Ol'Brown and I am really diggin' this color! Her original color is Medium Brown Metallic.

I'm thinking that is an aftermarket color. My wagon is Medium Brown, and I have some parts that are Gold Glow. Both factory colors, but not even close to that Sportroof shade.

1972

1973

1974

1975

1976

1977

1978

1979

I assume all of the Mercury colors were the same. There were a few more sheets but these are the color ones.

GOOD INFO.

Seems PPG isn't calling the colors the name Ford did on a few though.
take the 6F for instance, Ford calls it Gold Glow, PPG is saying Bright Yellow Gold Poly?

and no Medium Brown Metallic

THANKS for the PPG pages!!

let's keep this thread going if anyone has other sheets.
Anyone have the actual Ford stuff? Maybe from a 1972 new car brochure?

4S Light Green (my car's color) must have been new for just Torinos in '73. There were other new ones too.

Still working on getting an engine. Pretty soon I'll bite the bullet and get the wagon's original engine machined.

Looking at brochures now to see if there are color charts.

I've got a great 302 I'm pulling out of a '72 Torino. Not an original engine, but runs well, holds great pressure and we won't need it (going big block Ford). Let me know if you are interested, as it will be a couple of months before I pull it.

All I've found so far. I wonder how many of these are left.

I have one sitting in my garage. 2M maroon, maroon interior (now has cloth), white 1/2 top, still have those original wheelcovers in the basement. Original paint, original painted stripes, original top.

Cool! Read that you're modding it though.

1975 wagon brochure. Features color codes. Haven't found anything with actual chips yet.

Interesting fact on those LE models - the vinyl trim was not standard Torino vinyl like above. It was more of a full pleated version. My '76 Torino 4 door had the trim shown above, in blue. Unfortunately, I junked that car before I joined this site and it had a nice body and interior. 50K miles. What a schmuck I was for that stunt - did keep the trunk lid, taillights and some trim off it.

Oddly, that white car has Gran Torino rocker trim. He has it listed as a GT Brougham - wonder if someone added the trim at some point.

That was my thought....someone who was not aware of the limited package.
