Hey guys:

Any trick to getting to the lower thermostat housing bolt on my 77 302 LTD II? It's behind the water pump with no room to swing a wrench. I've already pulled all the hoses and moved the distributor. Does the dizzy need to come out? Otherwise it looks like maybe the ac support bracket needs to come off, which means removing the fan and fan pulley. In which case, since the ac doesn't work, I might as well just ript all the ac stuff out. Or not. Any hot leads?

For those who care (not many it seems) yes, the dizzy had to come out to get to the bottom thermostat bolt. But in the end, no big deal. Just a stupid design.

Ah yes, the thermostat. I called my buddy and he said he'd done a million of these; the dizzy didn't need to come out, I was looking at it wrong etc, etc. (He's a bona-fide expert on Lincoln LSC models with the 5.0 HO)

He came over, opened the hood, took one long look, sighed and said, "The dizzy has to come out."

End of story. LOL
