72 is a one year hood.
Ranchero and Gran Torino swap back and forth.
Some have the GT Scoop, that is the only difference.

Wagon, 4 door, Formal, Sportroof Torinos, Ranchero. All 1972 will interchange. I have a Ranchero GT hood on my wagon.

NOPE,

72 Torino and GRAN Torino is different Hood, fenders, grill, and header panel
not sure about the bumper.

72 is a ONE YEAR ONLY for the bumper, fenders, hood, grill, header panel, filler panels, lower valance etc... NOTHING on the front is the same as the 73 or newer.

I had a feeling they might be different, never hurts to get solid info out there before
somebody ships wrong parts across the country, or across water!

so I guess that would make the 1972 base model about the rarest of the front clips?

Actually, the front bumper is different on a Torino v/s a Gran Torino. We found one at Carlisle for a base Torino, was beautiful and cheap. I was ready to buy it when we figured out it was shaped differently. Whew.

Yup, the Gran Torino and base Torino bumpers are different. The dropped center section of the base Torino bumper is a lot wider than that of the Gran Torino to match up with the plastic full width argent grill.
