mine came off of a 72 GTS with the sport handling package. That has been installed on my 79 ranchero MX (ranchero with a 73 montego theme) and it bolted right up. What does not want to line up? Have you removed the lower control arms at one time and reinstalled them on the wrong side? could the bar be bent/damaged? Did the old bar fit correctly?

I know you asked dan, but I replaced mine too. I got mine from rockauto.com. I got all my bushings from there.

Buy the bushings by size, forget application.
Take a wrench and slide it over the bar. Find the size that fits and order the bushing accordingly.

Energy suspension makes a TON of sway bar bushings and brackets. Here is a greasable set for a 1 1/8" bar (72-73 Comp bar) that would work. Most parts places can get energy suspension if you don't want to order online.
