I'm right in the middle of restoring my 74', after starting it up for the first time after 10 some years it fired the first time, after the first time, it would fire without any throttle, like it should, after I changed fluids and the usual routine, I've found myself having to give it a little throttle so it'll fire up, but it runs and purrs smooth. Any idea why it wouldnt? Could it just be cold natured? Either way its not really bothering me I'd just like to be able to start it without. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Might be fuel pressure. Why it changed is indeed a mystery. Every old car I've ever worked on required a bit of throttle to start, so don't worry too much.

Papa death - alright, thanks for the insight. I just thought it was strange to do that. Maybe its the actual gas in the tank, its always really low because I haven't taken it far yet.

And unlovedford- Awesome, could you tell me what they were? Thanks! You're close then too.
