Hi Everyone!!
I am new here and have forgotten most of what I knew about Torinos. I owned a 72 about 25 years ago. I have recently purchased a 71 GT, 351C 4v. My issue is I bought a "direct fit" fan shroud. The one on the car is shot, broken beyond repair. Also a new aluminum Rad that is a "Fits Torino" Rad fits pretty well, new fan shroud does not fit the new or old rad. Something is a little strange here. The rad I got was 21.75 core length, same length as the one that was in the car. Is this the right Rad for the car? If not what is the proper core length. I am not against putting electric fans on the car but I want it to remain mostly stock or stock appearing. Thanks, |

it sounds like it may be the shroud, since it don't fit the new or old rad. what exactly doesn't fit (too tall, short ,too wide, too narrow?

The shroud is too wide. The old one is "modified" to fit around the top rad hose. that is why I am thinking the Rad is wrong.
The new shroud goes to the tanks of both the new and old Rad. The new rad is also the same as the old one if it was not cut to allow the upper hose to pass. |

i did some checking for radiators the diamentions i found were 26"x17 7/8" for core, i found one used orig 71 torino rad from a cleveland car they claimed the core size is 21 3/4" x 17 3/4" ???? thats smaller for a cleveland ???? don't make sense to me. but looking at shrouds there seemed to be different part #'s and shapes, all claiming to fit 71 torinos???. i'm thinking your shroud may be the problem ??? hope this helps.
