It appears the Service Replacement Distributor for a non-California Torino would be:

D5VY-12127-B

That is non-Police also.

if you can't find that specific number, distributors from 351C, 400, 429 & 460 all have the correct 5/16" oil pump drive hex in the bottom of the shaft and the correct drive gear. the important internal thing you want to watch is the advance slot, and you can swap that part over from yours to a rebuilt distributor if they're different

swapping the advance slot can be used as a tuning tool also

here's some pages that show the goodies inside

Thanks, Scott. Could you tell me, what part number D5AE-12127-BA  is?

Thanks. This advance part doesn't work in my original distributor. I've used MSD-8350 the last 3 years, but I had a lot of trouble with it, so I'd like to go back to the original distributor. And I'm looking for a NOS one.

I'll try and look it up tomorrow at work. I assume that is a whole distributor?

There is a distributor without cap on the images, where I've seen it. But the text says it fits 302-460 (all 70s V8) and that is surely not true.

Looks like that is an original part number, and the official Motorcraft "Service Replacement Distributor" for that is D5AE-12127-B (according to Master Parts section 120 page 24).

That appears to fit: 351M, 400 (non-California).

The 460 has a different application, which is the previously mentioned D5VY-12127-B.

But, like Rockatansky said, it would work in a 460. I am using the Mallory Unilite I originally bought for my 400 (76 Elite) in the 521 that is going into the 75 Sport.
