Anyone running this cam?
I'm not building my "final" motor for this car this year (funds plus a '36 Ford project), but I'm going to add some motorvation for the next year or so. Here's my plan. Car is so close to being 100% presentable I'm finishing it so I can enjoy it for a year or two, minus the 400 hp motor. New motor in 2016 or 2017 Now '74 Torino, 351C (dished pistons), C6, 9-inch (2.75 stock ratio) 4000 lbs car (A/C, PS, PB, PW, PL, nice stereo, etc.). 70,000 miles Already has true-dual full exhaust with a crossover and Flowmaster Series 40 mufflers. Unfortunately it's a 2" system (Why? No idea, it came with the car). Adding/Changing This Year: 1) Aussie 2V closed chamber heads (proper valves, steel rocker pedestals, valve job, good pushrods and lifters, proper springs, keepers, retainers, etc., etc.) Good compression numbers while using the stock dished pistons. I already have the heads. 2) Edelbrock Performer Intake 3) 750 cfm carburetor 4) Upgraded ignition - Mallory or whatever distributor, with MSD or Mallory CDI box, etc. vacuum advance (16° base + 20° = 36° all in by 2000 rpm), good coil, wires, etc. 5) Roller timing set 6) Gears and locker - If really necessary 3.50 to 3.75 range So, I need a cam. The EH256H looks mild on paper, but it has the highest torque numbers across the board at the lowest rpm range (1500 - 5500 rpm). This is according to Comp Cams simulator. 350 lb.ft @1500 rpm and 300 lb/ft @5500 rpm Very broad torque curve. BTW - This is a street car. Cruiser/Fun car. No cross country trips, but it may occasionally see a state or two of travel. 90% weekend fun, ice-cream getter. Comments or suggestions? Thanks Ross |
