Does anyone know of a modern replacement for the "ham can" power steering pump?
Thanx, Ray

BMF, Not sure if there is a "direct" bolt-in replacement, a lot of the newer pumps have remote reservoirs to aid in a cleaner/neater install. That said, you will be hard pressed to find a better performing or more reliable PS pump than a Saginaw. Example: Quite a few years ago I had a Ford/Thompson pump on my '82 F250 4x4 and it wouldn't turn the 15/38.5/16.5 Swampers while sitting still in a parking lot even with revving the engine a bit(a lot of growling/whining from the pump), I installed a 460/C6 in the same truck that used the Saginaw/A6 front brackets and I could turn those same 38's with one finger at idle using the Saginaw PS pump, even with a heavier load on the front tires(460/C6). Good luck, I hope you are able to find a suitable replacement. Todd

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires. No matter how good she looks, somebody, somewhere, is tired of her sh*t. Beauty is skin deep, ugliness goes clear to the bone. |
