There should be a bolt hole on each side above the drive shaft tunnel in the middle. And there should be a bolt hole on each side near each inner wheel well housing. The rear seat belts in these cars were able to restrain three passengers in the rear seat, when the car originally left the factory.

I'm wondering about the plates the bolts go through,I see in the pic that some are sideways and it looks like some are pointed down, witch is the correct direction?

I am not sure that i fully understand your question 100%, but i believe that when you put the bolts inside of the plates and you tighten the bolts, the plates will still move around even though you have tightened the bolts already.

I believe that the bolts were designed so that the plates will always be free to move around even though the seat belt bolts are tightened down already. There is a special place that is cast into the bolts at the factory, so that the plates will still move around. Notice that place that the arrows point to in the picture below.

The seat belt bolts also have a "thread stop" so you can only tighten them so far into the cars floor. This was done so that the seat belt plates will still move around freely even though the bolts were tightened down already.
The arrows in the picture below points to the "thread stop" in the bolts. Edited by dave302 - 10-September-2014 at 5:21AM |

I guess that you can have the plates sideways or pointed up or down, since they are still going to move around anyway, even though the bolts have been tightened down all the way already.

HEY.... THOSE LOOK FAMILIAR!!! LOL, if memory serves me correctly, Dave is correct that the belts "float freely" on the bolt shoulder. Been a while since I pulled the ole girl apart!
