I paid 1500 for mine, but it was cleaner... Is it running? If so I'd easily pay 1000-1200

Ask how much he wants for this $500 car and see what he says.. (Gas Monkey Garage..)
Seriously, It's a very dirty car, sinking into a field, which would make me think he's not too proud of it, it's a 4-door post car, which generally goes for less. Mileage? The fender is beat in. Is there any rust through in the floors/chassis (It's sinking into a field, so look carefully for undercar rot) How is the interior? What engine/trans is in it? Does it run? A/C? Tires any good? How much will it take to get it running/driving/legal? Does he have the title/paperwork? ( Oh, and take off $25 for the awful side mirror LOL)

passage floor rusted out, rockers rusted, bottom  inches of all fenders rusted, damaged front quarter, missing one piece of chrome on passenger side. little rust above passenger light. interior ate up by mice. hood latch seized so cant see engine size, but i think i counted 6 spark wires thru the grill opening.

After further description, with papers I'd go about $800 tops. There is still plenty of potential, mine was rusty on the lowers. Almost anything can be fixed. Keep us posted! Could be a fun project

If you are seeing floor and rocker rotted out, look for rust/rot at the torque boxes at the rear of the front framerails under the front floorboards, upper control arm mounting points, spring towers, and rear spring mounting points. Also, if you can see spark plug wires thru the grill, you should wonder where the radiator is.

Like Randy said, those are unibody cars ao any rust in the lower areas is cause for concern. THe torque boxes, and other major points sit lower than the floor (closer to the wet ground) so I would really look them over thoroughly. Ask him to move it to a clean, flat area like a driveway, where you can jack it up and look it over. I know low miles are cool, but something not running and sitting a long time with 73K will cost you more in the long run than something running with 150K driven regularly.

Tank, radiator, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, seals, rot, tires, exhaust, belts, hoses, battery...all add up.

That grill is worth a $1000 give or take if its not all cracked and broke its the same grill that is on the 70 71 Cobra Jet cars. That must be a 4 door Fairlane they shared the same body as the 70 71 Torino and they used that grill for the Fairlane.
