Randy Here. Been lurking a while for info on a 71 Ranchero project I picked up a while back and it turned out to be more work than I was expecting. lol.
I was going to rebuild the original 302 and paint it but the motor was trashed. I just got my hands on a 72 Ranchero with a 460 and a bunch of other goodies I am going to use in the 71.
The 72 is in pretty decent shape and I was going to just do a little work to it and drive it but there's no title and I don't want to go through that mess.
So anyways I have a lot of good 72 Ranchero parts if any ones interested. I'll put up a post in the for sale section soon. Till then I'm looking forward to checking out the other cars on here.

Here's the 71 I love the lines on this body style. That's why I'm keeping it.

I was going to keep the original motor, 302, and rebuild it. Got it apart and found it was a lump of rust.

So I had a 98 5.0 sitting around for another project and decided to use it.

I was in the process of installing the 5.0 and another option fell in my lap. A 72 Ranchero with a swapped in 460 and a bunch of other goodies. I'm using the drive train out of the 72 and anything else I can make work and getting rid of the rest of it.

I will keep updating as I progress.

Love the blue Ranchero I have two just like it with the same special value package on them. They are pretty rare with those stripes. The stripes with the hood and the bed being blacked out, vinyl top and cloth inserts with the random stripes are all part of the package. One of mine came from Colo. it is white with red random stripe interior, 351 C 4V Shaker and C-6 the other is identical but gold with ginger stripe interior.

wow the original motor must have sat for years without a hood to get that much water inside everywhere! looks like a few "goodies" on that 460! and the rest of the 72 there are a few guys here that were looking for some parts.  nice project, keep us updated!

I bet plenty of people would love to buy the '72 specific stuff, like the nose trim and front clip panels. Never seen those stripes on the blue one before.

It did sit for a long time with no hood. The worst part is there was no air filter  in it so the top to the air cleaner was basically acting like a big funnel pouring water right down the carb.

The rear bumper is good. I've got all kinds of good stuff with this car I don't want to go to waste. I would much rather get it to somebody that needs it and can use it.
As soon as I get the go ahead from the Admin I'll get a parts ad going.

Whats the chances of finding that material when it's time to re-upholster that seat? I like the stripe too. I am going to try to find one  to replace that after I paint it.
