Great site! Thought I'd post a rear shot of my High School Hot Rod!

Welcome! Nice torino. Love the plate. I as well had a 72 in h.s. too bad a tree got in my way and I totaled it in front of everyone. Do you still own it? Tell us more. Thanks Rick

Rick,
I took that rear shot right after I totaled the car by hitting a tree. In this picture, the front of the car is TOTALED! And similar to your incident, some people gathered around after the dust settled. I loved that car. Put 30k miles on it in two years. Did many neat improvements with new ford parts. Have many old photos of her, even the ones of her going into the crusher! Still have a few parts off the car. Maybe I'll get another one!

If there is a place to load a photo album on this site, let me know as I have not found the path yet.

Here is a shot from happier days......

I do not recall blacking-out that trim around the tail lights, I think that treatment is OEM. The black ribbed bumper pad is 1973; I saw one and had to have it. Bought it from Bob Sorenson or Rich (?) at Geweke Ford Parts Department in Lodi, drilled the bumper out and it fit perfectly. A little later I added the bumper guards to balance it out. Then I drilled out the lower valance and added the 1973 trim as well.

Maybe you should start a new project thread with a pic of your old car and the new one you'll be getting to relive your youth. I had many cars but was not happy until I purchased my torino and built it the way I wanted. Every time I drive it I feel 20 years old again. There's nothing like it. Good luck. Rick

Looks like it was a nice 70's street rod. Hopefully you get another one. Would you be looking for another '72 GTS formal roof?

the black is stock around the edge of the tail lights,
Red center, silver/argent painted raised pin stripe area, Black painted outer border on the flat portion, THEN...
72 had the RED finned outer portion and 73 had the blacked outer area that met the bumper.

Adding the 73 rub strip to the 72, cool touch and just a matter of taste.

OK Guys, I just bought my second 72 GTS in 38 years, it is IDENTICAL to the one above accept for the interior color. Thanks for the inspiration!

It's all original and I'm now looking for a restoration shop in Oregon or Norcal.

All the best!

Welcome to the forum, and glad you got another Torino. Good luck on it, and you should start a project thread with some of the "before" pics for documentation.

BTW, when I was stationed at Travis AFB, I lived in Stockton. There used to be a good restoration shop there on Central Ave near the miracle mile strip.
