So, I am getting ready to drop some money on a new paint job on the 70 Torino GT $$$Cry...This pic is an example of what I hope to achieve (However, I could go with a med blue metallic or some sort of red...not sure) I am very interested in having the hood blacked out to add some character.  Just curious on if anybody had mimicked this look on their ride?  Do you think it would be possible to have the vehicle painted one solid color, and then simply have the hood wrapped in black vinyl?  I'm just looking for options....all constructive input is greatly appreciated.

that looks nice! i'd have the car all painted then go back and tape off the section on the hood sand it then spray the black on. you can get a semi gloss black or use gloss black paint and add a "flattening" agent in that paint.

Another endorsement of the Dupont paint.  I am not yet sure what brand my painter is going to want to utilize, but the consensus seems to be that the Dupont is the way to go. I am not looking to spend a fortune on the paint job, and I would be open to the car getting painted with an alternate paint, such as Nason. (much research and pricing to go yet for the Torino's makeover.....

DuPont is hard to beat. I would advise against a wrap, as they do weather, and your car is too nice to start wrapping in vinyl. Matte Black, Semi-gloss would work well. Gloss with a flattening agent will work, but I hope the painter has experience spraying that type paint. It is far more difficult to paint a coating that you cannot color sand and buff to get the desired result. Just my $0.02.

Hot Rod black is going on the entire hood with the Dupont "Hot Hues"....bounced some questions off of a few folks on how they accomplished their vehicle's style. Thanks for the advice, guys....
