Howdy all. I've been a long time lurker here, love reading the project pages, and how-to articles. My first car was a 1974 Gran Torino 2dr Base. I bought her sometime around 1984, and traded her only four years after for a nondescript Dodge four door. I named her Rose, though she was a golden brown color really.
Well I've often thought about getting another, and looked at Craigslist a lot for one. I just never had the money, or the car was too far away. This January a golden brown 74 Gran Torino showed up on CL in Decatur, IL for 5k (about 120 miles away). I did my usual thing, just looking and wishing I had the money. She stayed for sale on CL for over 2 weeks, and I began to think I should go see this car. I also had 2 Dodge Dakota trucks around this time, and the 2000 one needed body work; however the engine and suspension were great on this ole truck. I called the owner (real nice fella by the way) and asked if he was interested in an even trade. He asked for pics of my truck, I sent them, he said bring it by, I went. OK long story short, we traded, and then hopped "His" truck to pull "My new Rose" home. So I now have a 74 Gran Torino (Rose 2). She's the same color, cept I think the top was darker than the first one. I live near St; Louis and will be glad to check out local junkyards, or cars on weekends. if needed. When money come in, I'll be starting my project. I will take more pics soon of Rose. Glad to finally be registered here. Lew |

Welcome! Nice looking car, I have always been a fan of that color. Like you, I had given up finding a older Ford that I could afford, but then I got lucky. Can't wait to see more of your Rose!

Thanks KyChevyGuy. That's good to know. I've been to Louisville, it's a great town with nice folks.
I think it's only 240 miles from here. |

Thanks Legend Onirot
We trailered her home. The engine runs strong, stopping is the first problem to tackle. I need to fix the brakes first, then I can drive her. |
