Does anyone know if a floor shift tilt steering column from a 1978 LTDII will work in a 1974 Gran Torino Elite without any modification?

there may be a difference in the plugs for the wiring, but it will physically bolt right in.
On the other hand, there were no '78 LTD IIs with tilt and a floor shift, so... Column came from something else originally anyway.

I do not know the specifics, but I have had both of my GTS's steering columns switched from a non tilt to a tilt. One a floor shift and the other a column shift. Only problems I encountered was the column shift tilt did not come with the drive selector indicator (I got it and it was a few years before I had it put in, so I could not return it), do not know what it came out of. I was told it was an easy swap.
The tilt for the floor shift was a bit of a different animal. From what I have been led to believe, the floor shifts did not come with a tilt in any form, but the guy I brought it from custom made it, works perfect, looks stock, only thing my mechanic had to do was figure out the difference in overall length and compensate for it somehow (I don't ask a lot of questions from subject matter experts). Got both of them from Blue Oval.http://blueoval6079.com/ Edited by foote500 - 27-January-2016 at 12:58PM |

can anyone tell me if a 75 tilt ranchero steering column easily fit in my 72 ranchero with a non-tilt column? both have column mounted shifters.
