Would a member please post and image or two of the drip rail molding end termination, installed on a car, above the rear quarter window of the formal roof gran torino 72-73 without vinyl top? I am having to fabricate the end of the molding (from a vinyl roof molding) and I cannot find an image of the very end of the molding. I need a few close-ups too and I do not know exactly how the termination is fabricated nor where it ends in relation to the body of the car.

I have removed the vinyl top from my '72 GTS hardtop/formal roof car. I need to terminate the molding to match the non-vinyl roof molding and I need a close-up of this molding termination from a non-vinyl roof hardtop/formal roof car.

THANK YOU!

Here is one vendor's image of the part I need to fabricater but it does not show it's relationship to the car body.

CHRIS E had the same question when he did his 74 (not sure what he ended up doing?) but here is a pic of my 74 formal roof it was a non vinyl hard top i did add the wide lower trim to mine with no mods! the original drip rail sticks back from the edge

l   I used the ones from my vinyl top!! I don't think that there is much difference between the hard top and the vinyl top.

Thank you for posting!

My '72 does not have the large wrap around chrome molding, so I'm not sure if your drip rail terminates in a different spot(?).

How about a close-up?

Thanks again.

mine look like the pic above you posted, i added the wide wrap around molding and it just butts up against the drip rail. does you're piece connect to the drip rail and continue down for the front edge of the vinyl top??? IIRC i saw something like that and it may have been on a 73?

Nice looking '73 hardtop sport.

I have removed the vinyl top from my '72 GTS hardtop/formal roof car. I need to terminate the molding to match the non-vinyl roof molding and I need a close-up from a non-vinyl roof hardtop/formal roof car.

sorry as late to the party.

Yup, non vinyl cars have the folded over ends and the vinyl roof is straight and open so the vinyl trim slides in to it to form a seamless set like on Malcom's car.

You COULD use a vinyl trim on a non vinyl car but it will have a sharp edge.
I believe the non vinyl trim was made from a vinyl trim that was put through one more machine to roll the end over. Which would make it shorter than needed if you trimmed the bent end off to use on vinyl roof car.

Hey, I am late to the party but I know of a half a dozen formal roof non vinyl roof cars but it's a 4 hour round trip drive.

If you don't have any luck, but don't need them ASAP might be able to scrounge up a set on a trip to the junkyard.

I had the paint shop cut and form the end but I don't like the result. I do need a set of formal roof non-vinyl drip rails above both doors. if you find a set please let me know! Thank you!

I had the same problem and took mine off a cougar that i found in a junkyard. they appear to be the same . All the bolt holes were the same and fit like it should
