Hello!  Hopefully I am in a the right spot.  I have a 1970 Montego. Complete numbers matching one owner car. 351 Windsor.  Used to haul butt!!  I have some service records and owners manual that shows it signed into service 12-24-1969.  I am interested in selling the car, but would prefer to sell to someone that is interested in restoring it.  I have no idea what it is worth, but know the engine is desirable. Whatever transmission is in it, Ford recalled at one point because it would jump into reverse.  This was my grandmother's car.  I hate to let go of it, but don't want it to sit in the yard and rot.  It is currently being used to store Camaro parts.
Any suggestions on where to look to find someone interested in it?

Thanks for your help!!Smile

You'd have to remove the Chevy parts to bring the value up! 2dr or 4dr car? that makes a huge difference as to its desirability. The 351W is good but not wanted as much as a 429 or 351CJ. Post up some pictures of it and we'll see what the survey says.

I mispoke. It's a Cleveland not a windsor. It's 4 door unfortunately. I'll post pictures a little later today ( not close to it at the moment ). I don't know what to ask for it as I don't know what it's worth.   However, I do know it's value was increase slightly when I put the parts from my 68 camar in it.

Kinda figured it wasn't a Cleveland once you mentioned jumping into reverse. That's a C4 trick, and the Clevelands usually got a FMX or C6.
Welcome, and as others have said... PICS!

I got the recall letter about the car coming out of park when I had my 73 gts.  That had the 351CJ with a C6 trans.  The correction for this issue was a sticker you put on your dash, reminding you to use your emergency brake when in park.  I still have the letter and sticker, I usually display it when I go to shows

70 2v cleveland got a C4, 4V got the FMX.  Then in 71 4v got the C6.

IIRC it was the C4 that did that, i remember years ago the goofy mailman had a maverick and it jumped into reverse, crossed the main highway and took out the neighbors mailbox Confused IIRC most issues i saw with the cars back then were the shift linkage was slightly out of adjustment so that it wasn't fully pulled into park down at the transmission end.

That and the goofy set-the-adjustment routine where you set up the linkage in neutral?? and there is no detent at the trans for park, the linkage just holds tension against it.
Once you've taken a trans apart and seen how tiny/flimsy the parking pawl is, you will always make sure to use the parking brake.
Johnny: there's a red mark on my father's house about 4 feet off the ground. My mom had a maverick about 35 years ago that she left running to warm up on a winter day. Damn thing jumped into reverse, flew over/off a snowbank and hit the house. Parents were pissed because us kids thought it was funny as hell. Car was stuck for days (on top of bushes in 3 feet of heavy snow).
