Took these this past Monday, at the local car meet at Quaker Steak and Lube in Valley View Ohio.
68 Torino 64 Tbird This beautiful Falcon, drop dead gorgeous paint... 71 Torino 500 w/302 My 75 Elite... 72 GTS A 79 Granada (at least I think it was a 79). That's all for now, not a bad turnout for Fords for such a small meet. Cheers. |

Man, I am just loving that Elite in black! You just don't see black ones often.

There were a lot of mid-late 70's stuff there, I just took the pics of the Fords but I saw more than a few disco-era Grand Prixs, Novas, etc., the stigma against post-73 cars is all but dead. |

Thats good to hear and see. I have always loved the "big ugly bumper" cars, regardless of make. |

I've been to a US Car meet in Hamburg last weekend and obviously was on the lookout for Torinos. Couldn't find any, but there was quite a nice Ranchero 460.
Note the bumper sticker, which is an old german sticker stating "I'm an energy saver" . I think you had those on your fridge here about 20-30 years ago |

All those cars were very nice. Those late 70's cars are becoming popular because thats what was out there when I grew up anyway. Tons and tons were scrapped just because they were NOT a Mustang, Camaro Cuda or anything popular. Now 40+ years later its hard to find parts or even the complete cars. Times have changed. The Model A and T restorers are gone. All the popular models are so far out of reach, so, whats left? The car shows tell the tale and those of us who like them are noticing.
Nice pics. Thanks for sharing.

X2!! Yep that's what I grew up with too! 60's & 70's cars they have more style than 99% of the crappy new cars today!!!
And I don't foresee anyone in the future doing a frame off restoration on any prius or focus |

Yep, in the early-mid 80s we would grab the big-bumper cars (better suspension/brakes/interior, etc.) and swap in engines from late 60s rust-bucket muscle cars to make them go.

I like stuff thats different and all those big bumper performance cars were rare when new, add 40 years and you never see a smog era performance car.

Another weekend, another car meet - lots of hot rods and customs at this one. This was a "Cruisin' Times' meet at Baker's Square, Parma Hts Ohio.
If ya'll don't mind I'll keep posting pics from my local car meets in this thread. First up, a couple Fords Model Ts; A couple '72 Lotus Elites (I know, straying from the Fords...) I can only assume the interior of these things are based on some sort of Tardis technology, in order to fit a human in there. Staying again - this time a Hemi Ramcharger. If Fords weren't so awesome I'd probably be a Mopar fanatic. Maybe. A very clean Ranchero; couldn't find the owner so don't know what's under the hood. A 68 Torino Fastback. Has a 460 in it now. Just love that profile. A 66 Galaxie 500 - super clean. A 66 Country Sedan; cool... This beauty of a Ford pickup cruised by... it never parked so this was all I got of it. A Ford rat rod, with some pos SBC in it. There were a ton of Mustangs there. Not really a Mustang fan, so didn't take many pics of them. A 75 Torino S&H clone; 351W under the hood. This is how you slam a ride... Not something you see too often at a car meet - 64 Econoline. Sorry but the old duffer just would not get out of the way... These two came in as a pair; Loved the graphics on this one; Nice matte-black 2nd Gen. F100. A lot of rods and customs at this meet... A Fairlane (wanna say a 56), all original right down to the paint. Owner was telling me how back in the day, the National Parks would rent you a window AC unit, you would pick it up entering the park and return it at the other end, so you could tour the park in the comfort of AC. Man, we take so many things for granted today. That Elite again, lol. Some Triumphs snuck in and parked beside me - made for an interesting contrast to say the least. A 69 Opel GT with a blown big-block Chevy. Proof you can stuff anything into anything. I'll be hitting another car meet this Sunday, so will keep adding pics to this thread until someone tells me to stop, lol. |

Johnny beat me to it... 426 max wedge with cross ram intake. And the rat rod was a BBC, not a SBC. Ya need to work on your non-ford engine ID

Mercury lead sled; 66 Comet with straight 6 and tri-power; 1940 Deluxe with Flathead V8; 66 Fairlane 500 64 Galaxie ragtop; |
