taillights

Hey so I just bought a 70 cobra jet from a guy. Numbers matching and original paint, he said shes 100% original. He gave me the marti report and everything checks out. The one problem is she has the long tail lights that are from a gt instead of the two separate tail lights. I looked at lot of pictures from google images and not a single cobra jet had the long tail light, am i the only one?

i found a pic that looks like the separate lights with a filler between them, rectangular spaces rather than the honeycomb of the 1 piece lights ... ?

it was on a special edition Type N/W, 1970

It's a 47 year old car, and things get changed... also, it's a Ford, so, never say never.

I have a bunch of photos of the car but im having trouble with the photobucket site. post your email and ill gladly send them to you. like i said shes solid but these tail lights are a mystery. i guess its likely that a previous owner put them on. theres no signs of a rear end collision so im guessing they just liked the gt tail lights better.
