i am trying to pick the right one, for my 72 montego gt  351 2v. the car came with a q code style air cleaner on it. i am sure it should have the smaller 2bbl style cleaner, and i found one. but what decal?? i have a MACS book, a Dearborn book and a auto krafters book out in front of me. none of them seem to agree. in fact the dearborn website shows a different decal between montego and torino that year, but the pictures are identical. pretty sure mercury decals didnt say 'mercury' after 1971. the auto krafters catalog lists a different decal for torino and ranchero 3512v  why???

i'd say probably misinformation, hell some of the people working there probably weren't even born yet when these cars were builtConfused

I tried to find them in the Ford parts catalog but had not luck.  I did confirm though that all 351-2V engines should have the smaller diameter breather.  Only the 351-4V, 400, and 429 had the larger breather from the factory.  There are also two different breathers for a 351-2V, one with NOX emissions and one without.  Did you run a Marti on your car?  A NOX emissions car would show up on a Marti.  It's possible they could have a different sticker?

I went onto Dearborn and Macs and noticed that the 351-2V engine kit comes with two different breather stickers.  You can see what the differences are in the photos, but maybe if you called they can send you more detail pics so we can help you figure it out?  Sometimes parts companies list the same part for different models under different part numbers.  Maybe that's the case here for the Montego vs Torino vs Ranchero.

I do have a picture of a an all original super low mule 1973 Montego 351-2V where you can see the breather sticker.  I can post it if you think it would be helpful but the 1973 sticker is different.

Yes this car is a CA car, has NOX. But none of the decals mention this. I know the fender decal is different for the Nox cars.   You would think this would be simple!

Pete I have check back and forth through the Ford Parts catalog and I cannot find the listing for those stickers.  There were definitely at least two versions, maybe three, but what the differences I can't tell you.  My only guess is that if it had nothing to do with NOx emissions, then they were probably different stickers for different build dates.

You might what to try and PM Gary, Torinogts73c, as I am pretty sure he was a Ford parts guy.  Maybe he'll be able to help you out or locate them in the Ford parts catalog.

Have a 72 Montego with the 351C 2V. The sticker on my air cleaner lid is D2ZF-9C611-AA. starting on the left and going right on the sticker: "Power by Ford", next in line is "351-2V" with "regular fuel" underneath, second sticker in line is "Once A Month" with a list under it, next is "Crankcase Ventilation System" with a list under it, next is "Antifreeze Coolant" with a list under it, and the last part of the sticker on the far right is "Motorcraft Service Parts" My car DSO is California, but other than that, it's all I know. Hope this helps.

Hello Pete.

I have the 2V air cleaner off my 23,000 mile 1972 Montego MX, the top, base, and snorkel are very, very nice in regards to the condition of the paint and decals.

I will post some pictures, but if you want, need, can use it, it is yours for $10.00 and the cost of the shipping.

I just sent a 460 air cleaner off the 78 Lincoln Mark V to Carl (starsky460), and the shipping on that unit from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania was $8.00 if I remember correctly.

No pressure, Mike H.

OK, so I should have looked at it before I gave a description as the decal and paint are not as nice as I thought.

Put it on a shelf last January, and have not looked at it since.

Let me know if you are still interested, thanks.

Mike H.

I think Dennis Carpenter sells the decals, if I remember it was $4 for my ''429'' Regular fuel decal.
