Is anybody running an HEI distributor in a 351m or 400? I'm about to put one in the Ranchero and I'm wondering if it's going to clear the factory air conditioning. I'm guessing I'll probably have to do away with the steel fuel line from the pump to the carburetor as well. Any input would be appreciated.

lots of other options that don't need a total rework, what air cleaner are you using? those things are so big they interfere with almost everything

you can use a parts counter duraspark electronic dizzy and wire it up to the same GM 4 pin module that the HEI dizzy uses

I know there are other options. I already have the HEI. $100 for the complete unit PLUS a set of wires was pretty hard to beat. Just can't find any links online to an HEI install on one of these motors that still has the AC.

This is a cheapo ebay HEI with an Edelbrock Torker & an Edelbrock 750.

Ran it on 2 different cars, came with a cap, rotor & coil for $95.00, still runs in a 95 Mustang GT
