long story short had someone do a head gasket job on 07. Well he only got half way. I now realize he didnot use new head bolts. can I remove one at a time and re tighten or leave it as is and pray.

Hate to say it, but the best answer is start over and do it right. Not really worth trusting "Maybe" and "I hope..".

I agree. Take all the old bolts out and replace them with new. Retorque as per correct procedure.
