Hello to all,
I have been toying around with the idea of buying an aftermarket intake manifold and carb for my 73 gts and was wonderning if anyone is firmilar with the eldebrock performer or the eldebrock RPM air gap manifolds? I have been looking at them on ebay just not sure which one to get yet. My car has a 351c and i believe that the heads are 2v. Looked at the heads today and couldnt see any marks in the corners specifying if they are 2v. I read that if there is nothing marked then it is more than likely to be 2v heads. Wondering about any suggestions on the manifold and carb. Im not out to be building a race car by any means but i would like to upgrade to get a bit more power. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

You need to know 2v or 4v. What's on it now for carb/manifold?

if you have a factory cast iron 2bbl intake manifold, 99% you'll have 2V heads

Yes it is a factory cast iron intake and 2 bbl carb. Motorcraft carb. So any thoughts on the eldebrock intakes? Ive herd mixed thoughts on them. Some people love eldebrock and others dont lol. Like all things i guess. So far i have been very happy with my cleveland.

I run a Performer on my internally-stock 351c with a Summit Racing 600 cfm. A night and day difference between the old 2bbl. set-up! The carb is the big question, because everyone has their opinion on their favorite (Edelbrock carbs drool, Holly rules...etc...). The general consensus is that whatever brand you choose, if you run a pretty much stock motor, stick to the 600-650 range cfm for a 4bbl. carb. Clevelands love to breathe, so if you do run future modifications above the carb/intake swap, a 750 can easily be run on it. I started with a 750 on mine with the Performer, but quickly realized I would of had to do A LOT of tweaking to get it to run good on my mostly stock motor. I put that one on the shelf and went with the 600 and out of the box ran pretty damn good. Good luck, and I'm sure others will chime in here soon!

Thank you for your advice. I think it is so awesome that there are a lot of good people on here. I was leaning towards the performer myself. They are actually pretty decent priced on ebay too. Still not cheap but nothing is now days lol. If i can get to a computer i will try to get some pics posted for everyone to see. It doesnt like my phone.

Edelbrocks just plain WORK. (But a properly working Holley makes better power)

I have herd that before. I bought a holley single barrel for the 65 Falcon i used to own. Was a great little carb. They seem to be pretty easy to tune and whatnot. I'll probably go with a holley for my torino. Sold my falcon to my best friends dad, he is in the process of putting a 302 in it right now. That falcon is gonna move compared to the 200 IL 6 that was in it.

yes X2 on the performer and the holley! yes x2 on the dirt!! i put an inline filter in the hose by the fuel pump on mine, you could add another in the line back by the tank for extra insurance |
