After reading a few threads. I not clear did anyone know who sells a rear disc conversion kit or what is the best one for a 1974 torino ? I found Wilwood has one but they do not have anything that matches the front.

No front kit exists so you won't find a rear that matches

Actually they "supposedly" do, but hold on to your wallet : Never have seen this kit installed, but for that price it better stop on a dime and give 9 cents back. |

Although I have a rear disc conversion on my Ranchero, I have never done a rear disc brake conversion on a "Torino bearing" rear housing, but from what I have read using Ford Explorer parts allows this conversion to be affordable and the replacement parts can be easily sourced from your local parts store. Just remember you will be also replacing other things, like from a disc/drum MC to a disc/disc unit and sometimes the pedal rod ratio will need a "tweak". Good luck.

I'm guessing your '74 has a big bearing 9". I recently finished a rear disc conversion on my small bearing 9"('72). It's the same deal just need the explorer or large bearing disc set-up. You'll need a disc-disc master cyl, proportioning valve, and a parking brake solution too. Lot's of stuff on this forum and the web for big bearing 9" disc conversions and I found it to be very rewarding. New rear wheel bearings and disc brakes make a much better riding, driving and braking Torino. You will notice the difference!

you could do the lincoln mark 4 or mark 5 big disc swap, i did on my 74 it's mostly bolt on just a few minor mods. only drawback is they use a 5 on 5 bolt pattern wheel or redrill rotors

are the v-8 explorer calipers different that the run of the mill v-6 one's? i just thought they were kinda small IMO

I have no idea, but seems thats all most guys talk about on the facebook car pages. v8 explorers are worth more in parts then they are as a runnin drivin vehicle lol
