I wonder how it fits 73-79? thought it was 72/73, 74-76 and 77-79

from what i understand... the wiring plugs are the difference 72 had less wires? 76+ had a different circuit board???

Well hell, that's a nice option that came out of nowhere. Picture is kinda fuzzy, though. If somebody pulls the trigger on this, please share what the quality is like.

Like Rock says above, looks like a 74-76.  1972-73 were different from the later clusters.  See photo below:

Are the plastic housings actually different, or are the differences only in the harness, printed circuit and gauge?

If you look at the photo comparing the three styles that I posted above, it looks like the upper left corners are different too.  I know there are some other differences, but I would think you'd be able to make a later cluster work in an early car.  It'd likely just need some minor modifications.
