Since I am parting out the 1964 Galaxie, does anyone know if the 9 inch center chunk out of it will interchange with one out of a 1973 to 1979? The car may have a good gear ratio and I don't want to get rid of something I could use. Housings are completely different, but perhaps it could be put to some use elsewhere.

Ford equipped some 302 powered mid sized cars with 8 inch so be cautious

See the fill plug in the rear of the axle housing?
That means (If it's the original center chunk) that there is no fill plug in the centersection.
It can be drilled/tapped for a plug, or the guts swap to other chunks.

You can also fill the housing before re-installing one of the axles if there is no fill plug in the center section(and not wanting to drill/weld for a drain plug). Since the axles are already out while swapping center sections, it isn't too bad.
