I want to remove the tag on the door jamb, from my car before sandblasting and such.

Can this be done?

I would think that the only way to safely preserve the old tag is to cut it out. You can order a new one from Marti Auto Works also.

it can not be peeled off it's made to disintegrate purposely!
 take a good clear readable photo of it! then you can order a new one online from marti (i did Wink)
you'll need to know the weights listed on your original sticker (they can try to estimate them but may take longer) then they'll mail it to you ready to apply after paint Big smile IIRC mine cost $39

I've done it in the past, but the results are mixed(either comes off intact or in shards about quarter by quarter inch.Stern Smile).  You probably won't be able to reuse the decal on the body, but if you just want to remove it and keep it for the cars records, this stuff is pretty good;

Follow the directions EXACTLY.  Good luck!

You can't remove it intact. It's designed to have some of the label stick to the car, and some stick to the film, so that if you remove the decal it was say VOID across it many times over.

So, if it's still looking good, take a picture and save it to your computer so you can get/generate a new one

I have a new jamb sticker that I ordered from Marti for my 72. There are two color choices. White and Light Blue. Go with the White one. I say this because I ordered and received a Light Blue one. The label on my car because of the lighting in shop or whatever reason didn't look to be a true White to me. The Light Blue is more like a Medium Blue and isn't close. I may have a White one made up yet but I might like the Light Blue on Red so I might keep it.

Just thought I'd throw that caution out to you.
