What is the easiest way to protect the parts from rust on the inside? I am definitely pulling my car ,apart Saturday. Rattle can undercoat? Rustoleum? I'm a noob at this so go easy on me. Sorry in advance if I hijacked op's thread.

Instead of Hijancking, I just made a new post for you. I have the front clip off my car now. It was undercoated and has been oil sprayed rustproofed inside all the sheetmetal from new. It's is 100% rust free. I am going to clean and detail the parts that are seen, but the back side of the fenders I am leaving as is as it seems to have done a great job protecting the body from rust. Plus it'd be a huge task to clean all that up. However, if your car is never seeing inclement weather and is garaged, I am sure painting cleaning up and painting the inside of the panels will probably be enough to keep it from rusting.

Have just done 9 months of weekends doing this for the entire inside of the car...believe me you only want to do it once...
Was mainly just surface rust so it was stripped back (almost to bare metal) with a flap disc on a grinder or wire wheel on a drill where possible and hand sanded with 40g then 80g in hard to reach places such as inside door skins and quarter panels One coat of rust converter then an etch/epoxy primer and then a single pack epoxy topcoat....used a spray gun where I could but some places (inside the doors etc) used cans (they're so good these days that the quality difference isn't noticeable)... Not gonna win any prizes at SEMA but it's sealed and will be covered by dynamat extreme anyhow... Good luck mate...be prepared for some boxers knuckles |

I shot the undercarrige of my dad's '46 ford with Ospho in the late '90s, and to this day there is still no rust under that car. Ran it through a old Wagner Power Sprayer . Clean the surface first, and if there's any mild surface rust, the Ospho will take care of it. Great stuff.

Ospho is on the list. Danny at the shop is going to take care of that for me. All this stuff adds up quick but I am hoping this car is around when my son can drive. He has a long way to go so it won't see any bad weather.
