I'm sure someone must have posted this before, but I haven't seen it. As much as I've been searching Torino's over the years, this popped up for the first time the other day. Seems this Guy out in California bought a second Torino project and found out it had rust under the vinyl roof and decided to make it into a convertible...or something like that. Anyway, Pretty interesting I thought. Maybe the owner is a member on here? Anyone ever seen it in-person?

A wagon?! That would be strange.

On this one I think he should at least change the mirrors out for Sport Mirrors. But it looks good with the side trim off.

I have seen these pics too.  It's too bad the guy has so few and the ones he has are very poor.  I remember reading he doesn't have a top for the car.  The lack of side trim with the blacked out hood and grille does look decent.

Interesting convertible wagon. I was wondering what they'd do with the back.

Hey guys, I actually just bought this car last week! I plan on giving it a few upgrades, the paint has faded over time, so has the interior. The car was a factory 351c 2v, auto, ps, pb, a/c, with factory gauges. It now has a 400 in it. The car runs and drives but I'll be cleaning the tank and overhauling the carb this week. I'll be posting pictures as it comes along, both here and on the facebook page. It fits in nicely with my 72 gts, and my 73 4 speed gts.

Tyler, welcome to the forum!  We on this forum have known about this Torino convertible for some time, but had little information.  So it's great to finally get some more details.

I have upgrade your membership so you have full privileges and can post photos.  Lots of members here don't have access to FB so it's great to see you post info here too. It'd be great if you started a new project thread in the project thread section so we can all follow your build. There are lots of knowledgeable members here, and the forum has tons of reference info (check out the reference section, the how to section and the stickies in the 72-76 section).

Again, Welcome!
Vince

I'd like to share some pictures, just not 100% sure how. I have been driving this car, recently added bucket seats, sport mirrors, magnum 500 wheels, and a wood grain cluster bezel. The 351m isn't a power house, but this car runs very smooth I plan on leaving tha alone for the time being. Just had all new ball joints, tie rod ends, all new front end bushings. I plan on having the interior done soon, two tone black with yellow inserts. I have 3 Gran Torino's, a 72 Q code C6 Green Gem Metallic, 73 Q code 4 speed Midnight Blue Metallic with laser stripe, but this one is my favorite.

Thanks for sharing more pics, as the ones we have here were not very good.  That is one cool looking Torino.

Yes very cool car , I know it must be nice weather down there now . but  How about a pic with the top up ?  about  the scoop ? Looks good , is it   mustang ?   is it just applied on top ?   just asking cause I am thinking about a 73 graft of my own,  also if you feel the need to sell the blue fastback ... Thanks

There is no top, this is a full time roadster. I keep an eye on the weather before I drive it. The scoop is 68-69 Torino or Mustang, it is bolted to the hood. I haven't thought much on selling my blue one to be honest. And Tmyer, you will be my first call!

Me bad . I didn't look at the older posts , a buddy up the road has done many Olds conversions , if the top goes down the price goes up , I also heard from him cars  68 and later  need to reinforce the frame  , so good that was done .

Tim is hard to get a hold of, but worth it. He did my long block.  If you do end up calling him, leave a message if you want him to call back - he usually doesn't answer the phone.  He gets a lot of customers tire kicking and just looking for advice then buying parts elsewhere.

Just realized I haven't updated the forum on what progress I've made on this car. I was able to get the two tone interior done as well as having the body and paint work done. I know a lot of you follow me on facebook, but I also like to update the forum for members who are not part of facebook. I did take the car to Carlisle this year, pulled in a 24ft enclosed trailer, we had a great time!

Thanks for the update. The car is looking really good! The paint and body look a lot better and the interior is really sharp.
