Anyone installed this on a Montego? When I have searched on parts pages, some show this as a fit for 1973 & up Montego's, but then list it for 1972 Torinos, etc...but NOT for a 72 Montego
Is there something different with the 72 Montego versus the 73??

I was getting ready to send mine off to Powersteering.com for upgrade to fast ratio, but he does not do the Ford unit I have for this year...only Saginaw's.

Thanks

There is no difference 1972 to 1973.  The Lares 841 will fit, or you can convert to a Saginaw box.  A Saginaw box conversion is a probably a bit more costly, but you can pretty much custom build a Saginaw anyway you like.  The Lares 841 is bolt in.

I haven't put one on, but Joe (unlovedford) did on his '72:

A few years back I had a buddy who owns a 4x4 shop rebuild my Saginaw gear that is in my Ranchero with Jeep Grand Cherokee internals, NO machine work what-so-ever, what a difference in steering feel. I rebuilt an extra Saginaw steering gear with the JGC internals a couple months ago just to have one "on the shelf". Fairly easy to do if you have the right tools/instructions.

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires.

The Jeep GC had the 12.7:1 ratio, the fastest setup for the Saginaw box.  My Saginaw box, from a 1971 Mustang, is also built with this ratio, and it was a massive improvement over the stock box.
