Hello,
I just bought my 1972 Gran Torino Sport Fastback yesterday. I was wondering if anyone might know why my hood doesn't pop up when I pull t he hood release? Is there suppose to be a spring under the hood? The hood unlatched, just hard to open since I can't get my fingers under it. Thanks

yes there's a flat spring bolted to the hood...quite possibly it's broken!

Hey, all. What is this spring actually called? I think I need one for my 72 Ranchero. I'm already tired of having to use a screwdriver to open the hood. Yes, the seller told me about it. Although that might be a good under hood theft deterrent. Thanks, Russ

I always called it a hood latch spring. I know theres a nos one on Ebay. Most parts cars still have them, but then youre buying the same 40 yr old fatigued metal.

Thanks.
Maybe I'll just go with hood pins. Seriously. Thinking about it. Russ |
