Hello forum......I just bought a project-Cyclone. What was the original carburetor used on the 1970 N-code (429) Cyclone?

See picture of the engine bay....is that a Holley 4150?

I have not seen the car in real life yet. It is being shipped as this is being written.

Motorcraft would be my guess.
Maybe a 2nd day mod? My first GTS had dual feed vac secondary Holley 650 and original owner told me it was purchased that way. I would have loved to get a marti report for the car wven though carb would not have been listed. Does the car run?

Yes....the engine does turnover and chirp. That was a requirement for purchase. It does need a TOTaL tune up though.

Here is where the number is stamped.  That will give you all the info you need to get rebuild kit.

That carb is an early original I suspect and will work to perfection unlike the new ones which need tlc.

Yes...I have tried to zoom in on the carb many times to see if I could see the model numberTongueTongue The car is in a shipping container now, so I wont be able to check for at least another month.

The Holley is a great carb....but, was it the original carb for this engine/year? Or was the Motocraft 4300?

Of course the (Holley) carb will get a total refurb.Tongue

The original carb for the N-Code 429 Thunderjet is a 4300A squarebore carb, not a spreadbore like the 4300D. The 429CJ used a Rochester QJet and the 429SCJ used a Holley.

Here is a thread where we discuss the carb for a N-code 1970 Torino, which is the same as your Cylcone.
