Hi all,
Yesterday I was driving my 71 torino 351c with c6 all day without issue. I made several stops and the car started and ran fine. While I was dropping someone off I had the car in either park or drive, cant remember which, but the car stalled. When trying to restart, the car would turn over and immediately die. I was in this one lane valet entrance so I had to get pushed out of the area. My car was pushed maybe 20 yards away where I stopped, waited 10 seconds and the car started and ran fine again. The only difference I noted was the temp gauge was reading more towards cool than usual. I have no idea what it could be. |

Could be a coil going out. If it happens again Measure the coil or just feel it and see if it is over hot. Could be a neutral safety switch or a loose wire. Could be a lot of things and you will need to check everything to troubleshoot it. Get a book that tells you how to do it and have fun. You might get lucky and find it right off or it could take awhile. Good luck Greg

Thanks. I just upgraded the coil to msd and to electronic points but I guess it could be loose.

Check that your fuel line isn't pushed up against the radiator hose (possible mild vapor lock) Alternatively, MSD was known to stand for "May Strand Driver" or "Many Stranded Drivers"... Check connections on everything on the new ignition/coil.

MSD = My Spark Died are you sure you got genuine MSD product and not a counterfeit? real MSD's can be sketchy enough but a fake will be for sure, and Yes some items are made overseas so factor that into your thoughts while you're pushing https://thecounterfeitreport.com/product/244/ if it stops running again 1st thing to do is check for spark. in the mean time check all your connections with the engine running, wiggle and gently tug to see if you can replicate the failure. |

Good point.
I bought it from summit so I really hope its genuine. It looks a lot more beefy than the stock one. I can definitely check the connections. My concern was a possible overheating issue but that wouldn't make sense given it started and ran fine 5 minutes after stalling. |
