Hello All,

I have a 31 spline, 9 3/8 trac-lok third member with a 3.50 gear that I want to install in my 75 Torino.  I cannot find what the length of the original axles are.  Can anyone provide the proper length I need to buy?  I believe they are each 32" but not sure.
Cheers,

Chris

The 9 3/8" carrier is a bit wider than the 9" it replaced. I also run a 9 3/8" carrier, but it is installed into it's original '72 Lincoln Mark IV 9 3/8" housing. It may be best to install carrier(after notching housing of course) then measure from wheel end flange to carrier pin to get correct length axles,  my 31 spline axles have different lengths. Hope this helps.

that's what i did, get the 3rd member into the housing and measure.

if the 28 spline axles will go all the way in, seat the bearings home and the retainer plates fit flush to the flanges i'd say you could duplicate those lengths in 31 spline. if not just subtract enough to make it happen.

and yes our axles are different lengths for sure. i have some spare 28's i can measure

FYI: one of the side gears in the 9.3 trac-loc is 2 piece, the splines of both pieces need to be aligned to the splines for the axle to install.

this little detail caused me to measure wrong once Angry
