I was planning in repainting my dash to black but then this one came along on eBay so I grabbed it. Mine had a few good cracks underneath. This one only has a couple small ones.

Believe it or not, years ago there was actually a Torino at a salvage yard near me. It was pretty picked over but remarkably the whole black back seat was still there..Shocked so I grabbed it..

So now my biggest hurdle is finding someone/somewhere to turn these white bucket seats (with power driver’s) from a ‘77 Thunderbird into the original looking S&H black buckets. I can’t find repro ones online so they will have to be custom made. A local upholstery place wanted $800 A PIECE to redo them with new cushions..😳

Gary you can clean and paint the seats with SEM Color Coat Landau Black. If you prep it right, it will never come off.

Ya, I thought of that. Believe it or not, I the early 80’s I actually created a replica Dukes of Hazard General Lee. It originally had a white interior which a buddy and I redid in light brown. Worked good. I’d really like to get these buckets to look like an actual L.E. and match the back seat..

Me, “Circa 1982”. Wish I still had that car!! It was a blast to drive around town!

Yeah getting the exact pattern will be pricey. But painting will you get you by while you keep looking. I have a 69 Charger, they really are a blast to drive

Took the fixed steering column out and replaced it with a tilt column. Replaced the rag joint at the same time because that thing was obliterated. I couldn’t stand the rusty metal support on the replacement lower black dash so I removed it, sanded and painted it. Replaced the heater/AC controls with a NOS one I found online years ago. The levers on the old one were hard to move, probably from some of the sandblasting sand getting in there.Wacko Took the aftermarket AM/FM/cassette unit out and replaced with factory AM/Fm/8 track.

Note: above picture of instrument panel cover looks cockeyed because I just set it in there for the picture. I took that and the dash pad back off for the time being. Started laying the Dynomat..

While this was going on I happened to look under the car and noticed tranny fluid on the floor, this after installing my rebuild, cleaned, and painted transmission..Censored I discovered two hairline cracks in the tail shaft housing. I’m guessing this must have occurred as a result of the accident with the previous owner. Lucky there were a couple for sale on eBay. Painted the new one, added new seal, and no more leaks..Smile

Also got on the schedule with one of our local upholstery places to do the bucket seats. They do nice work but when he originally told me $800 per seat I was like Dead..This was until I got a couple of other quotes over $1000.00 so I guess the price has gone up a tad since I first inquired about 10 years ago. It looks like I’ll have to bite the bullet since this style cover isn’t made in the reproduction world..

Gary,

I had my seats reupholstered WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back when I got my car. Was about $1500 I believe and actually they were the first project I did on my car when I got it (and how my can of worms got opened!). There was no repop upholstery kits available plus I had added an arm rest to my rear seat and wanted a few more subtle changes from stock so they had to be custom upholstered....

I wanted to bring just a touch of the red into the interior but not as much as the sport interiors had so I had them done my way. I still need to refinish the bucket side skirts and back panels, add the chrome trim and power seat controller.... Embarrassed
