I was born and bred a chevy man, but always loved the Torinos. When I came across a 1971 Ford Torino 500. It is a big learning curve. The car is a factory 302 which will stay for now. I have a 351C that will go in eventually ( building it as we speak ). It's going to be a roller motor with flat tops, afr heads. Haven't made up my mind whether I want to stay carb or EFI.

Welcome, and have fun with the engine build. I loved building new engines, the few I did. What Cleveland heads do you have now, and why would you want aftermarket? I didn't know AFR made a Cleveland head if they do. I have a nice Cleveland in my recently new to me 73 Ranchero. It's supposed to have closed chamber 4V heads, and it's said $6k into it. I only have a few parts receipts, I noted pistons I consider a common forged part number, TRW that I put into my first Cleveland in 1980. I'd love to build another one if the chance came up, there's a $1500 408 stroker kit I liked the idea of on eBay.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find a few people around here that work on non-Fords, so no hard feelings . You have good taste though, hard to say no to a Torino. Looking forward to seeing the pics

Thanks everybody for the kindness. I only assumed that AFR made a head for the Cleveland, don't know for your. The Cleveland that I have is a complete stock motor. I know it has a factory 4 barrel intake on it, but as far as what the heads are I'm not sure.. When I know for your will let ya know. I'm sure I will have all kinds of questions when I tie into it. So be patient with me.

The 351C motor I have is a complete long block. Heads I'm not sure what they are, but it does a factory 4 barrel intake on it. Will half to do research to see what they are. I do have a question if you don't mind. Trying to find a set of bolt in subframe connectors for the Torino. I'm not having any luck. If they don't make any for that car are there any that will work that you know of. Thanks again

Very good, you have a 4V Cleveland. The 2v and 4V stock heads don't/cannot swap with the other OEM intake, the port sizes are so much different that the wrong intake would overlap. The heads will have the "4V" stamped on the corner in two places I think it was, easy to spot. It's likely a low compression 4V, the high compression and closed chamber were more rare. The government regulations of 1972 killed high compression then, so prior to 72 were the high compression engines. Mine the owner hunted the closed chamber heads and built it similar to the better early year models. It's got an Edelbrock smaller port intake which is newer than the old intakes I grew up with in the 70's/80's. It helps some with lower rpm torque, but the gearing helps more.
