Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm nearing the end of my build, and am having some issues with my interior lighting. When I hooked up the battery, only a small portion of the sport gauge cluster lit up, and very dimly. I've since replaced all the fuses and the ignition switch, and I'm curious if anyone can identity an item for me. It's a grey connector right beneath the fuse block with two wires, red and orange, as shown in this image: https://ibb.co/tMmpvMs 1972 Gran Torino Sport |

looks like the connector for the door jamb switch?
check for clean contacts on the circuit board for those lights! also if you installed LED's they are polarity specific!!! turn the bulb or socket 180 degrees |

Thanks for the quick reply! I think you may be right, there's a good chance I overlooked the polarities when refurbishing the gauge cluster. And yes, the door jam switch would make a lot of sense.
This is my first real in-depth project, and the poor thing's been sitting for nearly twenty years, so there are a lot of parts to sift through that I'm unfamiliar with. That said, I'll probably be on here with a lot of silly questions - thank you and sorry in advance! |

not a problem! the 2 plastic prongs gave it away as i remember using ford jamb switches on another project years ago yes these cars have a lot of parts compared to similar vehicles! found that out disassembling mine
try rotating the sockets for the led's if that dont work, you may need to pull the bulb out and slightly bend the wires kinda "V" shaped so the dont slide away from the socket prongs i've had to do that to most of the ones i've used! |
