Finally! i drove up yesterday, from San Diego to Los Angeles, and acquired a ‘72 Gran Torino that belonged to somebody’s great nana, who would only drive it out to church on sundays. this thing has 14,000 original miles. engine runs, even after sitting 9 years in the drive way.  It’s not drivable yet, but i’ve already started working on that. Anyway, i’m looking forward to sharing my project with you and participating on this forum

and shout out to the local who showed up for the car and tried to raise me on my offer haha you’re a good sport, but you gotta remember to bring MORE cash and don’t forget the flat bed, hope you find your project soon👍

That's a great deal, and that's the new car pricing. My parents bought our 72 brand new in 1971, I might end up finding the paperwork for it as I dig through old stuff.

Welcome and congratulations.

Sweet! If I ever go to buy something and someone else shows up to bid agai st me without knowing ahead if tume, I will walk. The seller squeezed another $1k out of me on my car. Glad you got it.

What are the first five on the VIN tag? You have to pass all that emission resting in Cali too? Yikes.

FYI sometimes that "Other Guy" is staged by the seller to get more money at the last second, playing to your emotions and all...

I was only talking about my situation. You still got a good deal. I bet it cleans up really nice.

There are lots of stories of friends bidding against potential buyers to drive the price up.  I doubt it is what you were dealing with and look forward to lots of pics. It was built in Atlanta and made it to California.

I think we had pictures of our old 72 GT when we tried to have it washed in Pisa, on a trip to Italy. I hope I can find those slides this Spring soon. The car wash they had there was a mobile thing about three feet wide, it had one set of brushes on each side. The opening was about as big as the Gran Torino, the brushes stopped it from being able to fit. That was a great trip, but I was only 11 years old then and it was a two day trip. The hotel was 30,000 Lira for the night, I remember that, but I forgot what that was worth in 1975.
