I have an idea of what I want to do but I'm here to pick brains.
Just so you have an idea of what I'm working with.
These rear wheelhouses have been sandblasted. The outer lips repaired. Every seam was finished off with an epoxy sealer. I'm planning long term. That top picture is upside down. 😒

What have you guys done? Any mistakes?

Are you talking the wheel wells specifically or the whole underbody and chassis?

I drank beer and hosed the underside down with Rustoleum Satin Black.
Missed a couple spots (Thank you, Giant Beer!!!  Burp!!!)
17 years, 35000 miles later, I still have a floor in the car, and most of the paint.
Driveshaft is still OSHA Safety Blue. Center chunk is no longer red oxide, rear axle is almost paint-free

Both my front and rear fenderwells were sprayed with Rustoleum truck bed liner after they were painted (front were powder coated). It's held up really well so far, and if I ever needed to touch up, it's quick and easy.  I definitely would not leave it just painted like that if you intend to drive the car.
