Can anyone tell me what size tires were used on the TV version of Starsky & Hutch. Also what size rims are the rears 15x8.5 or 15x10.

I'm not sure about the size as I never verified them. The 1st season car that I tried to duplicate back in 1979 had L60-15s mounted on 15X8.5 rims on the rear and G70-14 on 14X7 rims on the front. The tires were from Firestone. Others may have better information. That's what I used on mine back in the day.

Are you looking for the modern tire sizes or the original tire sizes? I think torinomike650 would know the original sizes but it looks like Steve M posted them above. I think most guys are running 275/60-15s on the rear, the front size varies. A G70-14 would be 225/70-14s in modern size.
Read through our tire thread and you will see lots of different tire combos: |

When I owned the 2nd-4th season cars, the tires were 225/75-14 front and 275/60-15 rear. I can't say for sure that they were the original tires from the show though, as I was the third owner of them after the show ended.

Thank you Doug. I seen the picture you had of a side view. Are those the size of tires you had on it in that picture?

Yes, all pictures from when I had the cars are the same tires, I did not change them.
Here is a close up of one of the rears. |

Thank you Doug. Do you got a close up of the front too? Also did it have 14x6 or 14x7 rims on the front?

I don't think I ever took any close ups of the front tires, unfortunately. If run across any I will post it, but in the mean time this is about as good as I can show you right now. I don't know the width of the rim, but maybe you can tell by the pic?

This is what I confirmed in previous conversation with Joe Wright on the Seasons 2-4 Hero 1 TV car when he had it:
Appliance slot mags & Goodyear polyglas tires
Front rims: 14X6; Front Tires: 225/70R14 (G70-14) Rear rims: 15X8.5; Rear Tires: 275/60R15 (L60-15) |
